Building design and construction is covered by a myriad of regulation and requirements which can seem quite daunting to anyone not used to dealing with them. They cover everything from cutting the site to final inspections. There are too many to list, but main authorities are:
The B.C.A. (Building Code of Australia) which governs all facets of construction methods, materials, safety, access, etc.
Local Council has Development Control Plans covering the types of developments and erection Certificates covering the actual erection or the building.
Building Estate Covenants cover building styles, placement, size, fences, sheds, gardens and visual aspects. and sizes.
All buildings are designed to comply with the B.C.A first, then other requirement imposed by other statutory bodies like local councils and estate developers.
